Who We Are

Ensuring Sport is Available for Everyone

 

SportLEIGH 

We want our sports organisations to work in partnership towards a common goal and where our coaches, volunteers and sports administrators are well trained and their contribution is respected and valued. Ensuring everyone in Leigh (and Wigan) area(s),regardless  of age, sex, disability , social background, race , religion or sexual orientation  can achieve their personal goals

SportLEIGH vision is where:
 1. Sport is more widely enjoyed and available;
2. Sporting talent is recognised and nurtured;
3. Regional and national performance is achieved and sustained

 

Aim and Objectives Aim We want ‘SportLEIGH ‘to be:

1  Increasing capacity and volunteers across the sporting enterprises §  Working with others to build a society where children and young people, particularly those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds, have ,plentiful opportunities to participate actively in sport, in and out of school, leading to the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to contribute fully to society and lead positive and productive lives. §  Everyone having access to affordable , high quality community sport facilities and guidance;

2  Recognised as an organisation that has a widely held reputation for acting with integrity, for ensuring the well-being of its employees and volunteers. To work in ways, which are inspiring, enabling, inclusive and creative. 

3  Have set up personal development training and career development and career progression opportunities for young people through sporting projects §  Supporting and developing voluntary service in the sporting sector §  Nationally recognised as a model of good practice,  

4  Financially secure and sustainable
 

Objectives

 1  Leading and coordinating sport initiatives and projects that increase quality sport provision

2  Ensuring individuals are able to move from sport to sport according to their changing lives , ability and capacity; §  Identify talent early and develop to its full potential §  A vital point of contact for the voluntary, private and public sectors §  Supporting Sporting Enterprises to become sustainable 

3  Leading and supporting a delivery of programme of activity to achieve relevant  sporting and volunteering qualifications

4  Empowering local people and enabling local sport enterprises to make a difference §  Ensure all clubs are in a position to obtain kite mark accreditation for the various National Governing Bodies ·       Recognise volunteers achievements within and outside of the sporting arena
